The Cannes Film Festival has just wrapped up — and what a ride it was! We’re thrilled to have walked alongside such powerful films, teams, and moments. This year, we’ve experienced the most exciting Palmarès of all times!
AWARDS & HIGHLIGHTS.
All the films we worked with have a special place in our hearts — and some also stole the hearts of the juries. Here’s to the winners!
OFFICIAL COMPETITION:
Our client MK2 accumulates 6 Official Awards in the top category, including the Palme d’Or! Congratulations to the amazing marketing and communications teams and thank you for having us by your side on this one! Iran, Norway, Germany, Brasil, France, Chile, UK, all told in all their diversity. The films will soon hit the box-office and the awards seasons with powerful distributors by their side, including Neon and MUBI for some of them.
And the Palme d’Or goes to… IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT by Jafar Panahi –
“No one should dare tell us what kind of clothes we should wear, what we should do or what we should not do. The cinema is a society…”
With a long stand ovation, Panahi received the award by the hands of Cate Blanchett and Juliette Binoche, the latter, now the Cannes jury president, once held up his name at the festival in 2010 while he was under house arrest. Congratulations to the team for showing the cinema is more than just art, it’s also a form of resistance.
Congratulations to SENTIMENTAL VALUE by Joachim Trier for winning the Grand Prix at the Official Selection! The film that received the most standing ovations at the Cannes Film Festival, is a heartfelt experience that you cannot miss! After our Cannes digital campaign, we’re thrilled to continue following the career of this outstanding film with our consultancy on its pan-European strategy.
Congratulations to SOUND OF FALLING by Mascha Schilinski on winning the Jury Prize Official Selection – Competition category. A hypnotic and haunting cinematic experience, Mascha crafts a visually and sonically immersive journey, where past and present collide with striking emotional depth.
Congratulations to THE SECRET AGENT by Kleber Mendonça FIlho on winning the following in the Official Competition: Best Actor for Wagner Moura and Best Director for Kleber Mendonça Filho. THE SECRET AGENT also earned recognition from FIPRESCI. It was an incredible celebration full of carnival and a very playful hairy leg!! Meaningful, audience-friendly and highly relevant for the awards season. Not to be missed!
Congratulations for THE LITTLE SISTER by Hafsia Herzi for winning Best Actress for Nadia Melliti, and also the Queer Palm, in the Official Selection – Competition category. A delicate queer story that navigates religious convictions and the exploration of one’s sexuality—with a powerful performance at its heart.
UN CERTAIN REGARD:
Charades brings to Un Certain Regard, two of the most talked about films of this section. Both films really stand out for their new gazes, narratives and stories, and were celebrated by critics all around the festival.
A standing ovation for THE MYSTERIOUS GAZE OF THE FLAMINGO by Diego Céspedes, crowned with the Un Certain Regard Prize –
“I was also inspired by real people and how dissidents and transgender people, when they are abandoned by society, create communities and families”
With these words, Diego highlights the core theme of the film, which goes beyond the traditional queer drama and explores “the creation of a real family that is not sharing blood.” Congratulations to the team—it’s always a joy to witness new voices rise.
Congratulations to Frank Dillane for winning Best Actor award in the Un Certain Regard Competition, and for Harris Dickinson’s FIPRESCI recognition for his directorial debut. URCHIN is a mixture of visceral realism with a character study about the struggles with addiction, making it a powerful first feature that we’re happy to continue with its marketing campaign, but now for the Spanish release by the hands of Karma Films.
