The Film Agency managed the 360º event-cinema promotion and marketing strategy of the live cinema release of Arcade Fire: The Reflektor Tapes in Spain. Directed by 2013 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Short Films winner Kahlil Joseph, this music documentary film a fascinating insight into the making of Arcade Fire’s international #1 album Reflektor. The film recontextualizes the album experience, transporting the viewer into a kaleidoscopic sonic and visual landscape. It charts the band’s creative journey as they lay foundations for the album in Jamaica, record in Montreal and play an impromptu gig at a Haitian hotel on the first night of Carnival, before bringing their breath-taking live show to packed arenas in Los Angeles and London. The Reflektor Tapes blends never before seen personal interviews and moments captured by the band to dazzling effect, and features 15 minutes of exclusive unseen footage, filmed only for cinema audiences. The Film Agency articulated a vast number of 360º event-cinema promotion marketing tools: the exhibitors & grassroots marketing which consisted mainly in the liaison with cinemas to promote the season in their supports and venues; complemented by the online marketing strategy which encompasses the global social media strategy and adaption for Spain. A key role was played by the brands and collaborators such as Fnac, Pase Ivea, Deezer, Universal Video and Beefeater – In-Edit Film Festival, Club Tr3sc, Spotify, Hailo, and Dcode, who gave us consistent visibility in their media through contests and editorial. The show got high media impact on specialized press, local press and Internet thanks to Actúa Comunicación. The PR visibility was complemented by paid advertising value: thanks to our partnerships with key media this month we had ads in specialized online press like Mondosonoro, ElPais.Com, Playground, Dcode, Radio 3. A core aspect of the alternative marketing campaign was the Arcade Fire Night: together with Beefeater Inedit and Mondosonoro we organized a special Arcade Fire party after the screening. With the cinema ticket the audience received free entrance to the party including one free drink.
